Overview

Professional Development Workshops is a partnership between the Hojjat Salemi International Students Workshops (sponsored by uOttawa Alumni Hojjat SalemI) and the Faculty of Engineering Professional Development Club (run by graduate students) and the Center for Entrepreneurial Engineering Design.

The Graduate Studies Office will be transforming this into a mandatory course for professional program students (non-thesis graduate students) in 2020-21 that will become a pre-requisite for students who want to do a COOP or internship work term or a GNG5299 Industry Internship Project.

For Winter 2020, participation is voluntary (but you must register and commit) to the following activities:

·         A set of professional development activities to be completed in peer groups.  Badges (integrated with LinkedIn) certify completion of the modules.

·         Weekly workshops with guest speakers from industry, alumni, and the university, who will run interactive sessions on the skills, techniques and resources needed to build a successful career.

Getting Connected

To participate in the workshops interested students should:

Explicitly register for the workshops in Eventbrite, so we can manage numbers.

Join the Professional Development Club’s Facebook Group.  The discussion board will be used to answer questions, and provide information related to the workshops. As well as keep you plugged into professional networking activities throughout your time at uOttawa.

There is significant group work involved in professional development. Please Read:
